Dear Member

We are approaching a busy couple of weeks, with Easter and the AFL Gather Round coming up, so I wanted to take time to reflect on a hugely successful Destination SA (DSA).

It was the 20th anniversary of DSA, and it was certainly one of the most memorable. From the Welcome Event on Sol Rooftop (how about that tuna!) to the special Chef’s kitchen lunch at the Adelaide Convention Centre, we made good on our promise to ‘delight and surprise’ our interstate event planner guests.

The ability for Team Adelaide to go the extra mile and do things that other states perhaps can’t manage was further exemplified by being hosted on stage at the Adelaide Festival Theatre and enjoying an unforgettable performance by tenor Jiacheng Ding from the State Opera Company. I know that many guests were hugely impressed by the fusion between Adelaide’s creative and business events sectors, and it certainly sparked their imaginations.

The two regional famils – in the McLaren Vale and the Adelaide Hills/Murraylands – were also extremely well received. As with Dreamtime last year, every venue and product stepped up to the plate and delivered a high-quality experience so that our guests can go back and advocate for Adelaide and South Australia to their clients.

The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. Below is a sample of some of the messages we have received:

Thank you to all the members who played their part in making DSA such a success. We know how much members value the opportunity to engage with highly qualified buyers, and we look forward to hearing about the positive results of DSA in coming weeks.

Changing tack a little, Jakki Govan has advised she is leaving Business Events Adelaide.  Jakki has held the position of General Manager, Bid Management since October 2022, and has decided that now is the right time to move on.

Jakki was instrumental in driving our sales results and her enthusiasm for the industry, coupled with a strong network of relationships, has positioned us well for further success. Jakki’s final day is today (Thursday 28 March). We thank Jakki for what she has achieved and we wish her every success in the future.

Business Events Adelaide has a strong business development team in place, and as a result we have chosen not to directly replace Jakki's position. Instead, we will restructure the existing team, and we will communicate this revised structure after Easter. In the meantime, if you have any questions regarding the team, I can be contacted directly on 0401 124 413.
