Testimonials

"Attending MicroTAS 2025 in Adelaide was an enriching experience both professionally and personally. The conference demonstrated why it remains a global reference in microfluidics, lab-on-a-chip systems, advanced materials, and sensing technologies.

The scientific program was exceptional, but what truly made this edition memorable was the strong sense of community and the cultural depth merged into the event. The oral sessions and posters were packed with clever engineering solutions, new fabrication strategies, and emerging applications, from organ-on-chip platforms and point-of-care diagnostics to sustainable microfluidic materials and next-generation biosensing. The quality of discussions, and the interdisciplinary community really stood out.

Also, I was honoured to participate in the Women in Science gathering, held at a rooftop restaurant overlooking the city. The evening combined a relaxed quiz activity with a hands-on workshop where we painted boomerangs inspired by Aboriginal artwork. Learning about the symbolism behind the patterns and the stories embedded in them added a meaningful cultural dimension to the experience.

Australia itself offered countless opportunities to connect with nature. In Adelaide and its surroundings, I encountered and enjoyed the lively presence of cockatoos and other native birds. The landscape, vegetation, and wildlife contribute to a feeling of being in a place that is both unique and deeply rooted in its history.

The culinary experience was also remarkable. I had the chance to try emu and kangaroo meat, discovering flavours that are characteristic of the region and closely tied to Australian tradition.

Overall, MicroTAS 2025 was not only an outstanding scientific conference but also a valuable cultural journey. Adelaide’s nature, food, and local heritage made the event truly special, and I left with a renewed sense of inspiration and appreciation for the global scientific community."

"Attending MicroTAS 2025 in Adelaide was honestly one of the most inspiring experiences our team from Barcelona has had in a long time. We travelled halfway around the world, and from the moment we landed, we knew this edition was going to be special.

From the scientific side, MicroTAS delivered exactly what makes it such a unique conference. Energy, curiosity, creativity, and the community (very well represented) is what truly cares about pushing microfluidics and lab‑on‑a‑chip technologies forward. With more than 1,000 experts gathered in one place, the latest reseach in the field and the exchange of ideas was constant.

Our team had the chance to contribute with two oral presentations and two posters, highlighting ongoing work from SERHA, OXIPRO, KLEBSIELLA, and VαMPiRE, projects funded from Spainsh government (AEI) and European Union (HEU). Also, I had the pleasure of presenting in the Hot Topic session on organoids and Microphysiological Systems (MPS), and also chairing the Fluidics session and the ECR lunch. Experiences that reminded me how vibrant and collaborative this community is. Pooya, a senior researcher from my team, also presented an excellent talk on sustainability in microfluidics.

In my perspective, MicroTAS 2025 was memorable and it went far beyond the science. Australia has a way of surprising you at every corner. We had the chance to meet Australia’s iconic wildlife during the conference reception and the Cleland tour (pademelon, snakes, lizzards, kangaroos, koalas, and many other animals) organized by the conference chairs and CBMS. There’s just something special about getting that close to nature that feels both ancient and totally one‑of‑a‑kind.

And it was not just the animals and landscapes, or the food, getting to know aboriginal culture made the whole trip even richer. Hearing the aboriginal opening and the sound of the didgeridoo, discovering the meaning behind their artwork, and learning about the bond between the land and its first peoples changed the way we saw the trip. It is something we will keep with us long after the conference.

Adelaide city was also very welcoming, calm and full of character. Everything ran smoothly. In fact, we shared a post during the event to emphasize just how well organized and inspiring MicroTAS 2025 was ”The effort from CBMS and the chairs—Professor Michael Breadmore, Professor Rosanne Guijt, and Professor Craig Priest”.

For us, attending MicroTAS in Australia was not just scientifically valuable. It was personally enriching. It opened doors to new collaborations, gave us fresh ideas, and offered memories we’ll carry for years.

I have got to say that the conference tagline, “There’s never been a MicroTAS like this!”, could not have been more accurate."

"As times now slowly approaches a new round for abstract submission to the annual MicroTAS conference I’d like to express my thanks for your tremendous efforts in organizing MicroTAS 2025 in Adelaide. Having attended all MicroTAS conferences I must say that this was one of the most enjoyable and memorable.

The structure of the scientific programme made it possible for me to attend almost every talk I had ticked in my programme. Maybe I was lucky, but I think it was more to it than that thanks to your planning. The lunch service on-site was a very good arrangement with fast serving and great food that ensured keeping attendees interacting at the conference. We should always have it like that at the MicroTAS conference. Also, the logistics at the poster sessions with a mix of posters, industry exhibitors and refreshments worked out nicely as well as the banquet in the Rosegarden. Coming from a rather cold, gray and wet pre-winter season in Scandinavia I enjoyed the flourishing roses and the feeling of spring during the banquet, and of course the taste of Australia and free drinks.

The local cultural exhibitors was a treat and the expo of Australian animals and more at the welcome reception made me realize that I should have reserved much more time to discover Australia although we came a few days early and did some very nice touring outside Adelaide that indeed gave a taste for more."

"MicroTAS 2025 was a fantastic experience from start to finish. This was not my first MicroTAS, but Adelaide made it feel like a first. Taking the conference to the Southern Hemisphere for the first time was a bold and brilliant call, and the city delivered on every level. The food, the people, the laid-back energy Australia has a way of making you feel welcome without even trying.

The technical program was strong. As someone coming from the manufacturing side of microfluidics, I always appreciate when the applied and commercial threads run through the sessions, and they did. The Hot Topic sessions on Organoids and Microphysiological Systems were particularly relevant to what we're seeing in the market right now, and it was great to hear where the research community is heading as these platforms move closer to commercial reality.

The networking was genuinely one of the highlights. Plenty of interesting people, good conversations, and I left with some solid prospects. Not every lead turns into business overnight, that's just the nature of this space, but the quality of the connections made it absolutely worth the trip.

And the conference party at the Botanic Garden? That was something else. Beautiful setting, great atmosphere, and those three chips coming out at the end were the perfect cherry on top. Whoever planned that moment knew exactly what they were doing."
